When William Broome sewed the first stitch on the first ever Swanndri way back in 1913, we’re not sure anyone would have imagined how much of a legend the Bush Shirt would become.

And yet, here we are. Save for a couple of updates made in 1927 (the addition of sleeves and a hood) that original design remains unchanged.

For more than 110 years, Swanndri has been designing quality garments that last for generations. You could say that we were doing durability before it was cool.

We believe that our clothes are meant to be worn and worn again, through any weather, season and occasion. The way we see it, every piece that lasts longer means less waste, less need for replacements, and less strain on our natural resources. It's as simple as that.

At Swanndri, we’ve been working with wool since way back. About 1913 to be exact. Sure, we’ve grown and changed since then, just like everyone has. But we’ve always stayed true to this core material.

How come? Well, wool’s pretty darn special. In lots of ways. And it comes from some pretty special farms, right here in New Zealand. So here’s a quick yarn about the wool we use for our outerwear, where it comes from, and the journey it takes to get from there to the clothes on your back (or your dog’s).
